Junior Art Intensive

In our two-week Junior Art Intensive, creative youth aged 13-15 explore 2D and 3D art-making. Working with professional art instructors in a focused workshop environment, students will complete a variety of projects in drawing, painting, animation and soft sculpture. Sketching and an examination of the creative process will complement hands-on learning to create an engaging and accessible art experience for creative youth of all backgrounds.

This program builds foundational knowledge while emphasizing skill development and the creative process and helps prepare students for our Summer Institute for Teens. The program culminates in a final exhibition of student work.

JAI Online Delivery & COVID-19 Response

Emily Carr University’s top priority is the health and safety of our students, instructors and staff. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ECU has implemented a variety of measures in alignment with advice from federal and provincial public health authorities, including the transition to online learning for the foreseeable future. The Junior Art Intensive 2021 is expected to be delivered through online learning platforms. When circumstances allow, we will once again offer in-person instruction.

We remain committed to offering meaningful art education to youth and teens, and invite students to grow their skill-sets and develop their portfolio through our online studios. As always, this dynamic and engaging program will be delivered to the highest educational standard, and instructed by award-winning artists and designers.
